Among several sessions going on during this busy week, Green Rooms must be the most awaited ones. Green Room sessions allow just a small group of students to have a one-on-one time with the Hall of Famers. While there is no procedure to get into one of these sessions, students do have to get to the Green Rooms early to secure a spot. The session only allows the first twelve students in, so the only magical move is to get there early.

The first Green Room of the day was for 3D Arts which seemingly was the most popular one, judging by the length of line outside the room an hour prior to the session!

"The first student started forming the line a good two hours before the session began!"

By the time the session started, the number of students in the line was more than the two back-to-back sessions could house.

This Green Room was led by two industry professionals, Culley Bunker, founder of Skulley FX and Jack Geckler, an acclaimed animator. Bunker and Geckler both have been inducted into the Hall of Fame and every year, they come back to give the students much needed guidance. This Green Room session was one of those opportunities for the students to not only learn from the pair but also have in-depth conversation about the profession, industry or just life lessons!

Bunker and Geckler both talked about the time when they were in the same place as the students are right now, and they also talked about all the hard work that went into getting a jump start in their career. They did not shy away from sharing the stories from their rough and patchy days, which was extremely humbling.

The pair kept the session very light and informal allowing the students to ask them any questions regarding career or anything else. Students quickly took the chance to get close and personal with the Hall of Famers, where some great questions came up, followed by great suggestions. When a student asked advice on how to find jobs, Bunker suggested,”treat the time that you look for a job, like a job”, while Geckler suggested,”be open to any opportunities and never stop learning. I am still learning everyday and I have been in the industry for 15 years.” Students were overjoyed to be a part of this session and took away some extremely valuable lessons.

The way both Hall of Famers treated the students during the session and the fact that they come back to give back every so often, shows how humble they are despite their success and achievements, and that itself was a lesson for the students. Meanwhile, some students still waited outside the room just to get a chance to talk to both Hall of Famers, and those are the small things that students do that motivates the alumni to come back and also adds value to this event.
