Tuesday started off with a 9 a.m. panel called Designing Addictive Content Responsibly, hosted by Dan Siegel with Aaron Cook as a guest. Over the course of the panel, Siegel asked Cook, a Full Sail alumni and producer of Scientific Games, questions about life in the industry. This included things such as the Lord of the Rings, and James Bond games. Starting off in the business, he tried to work with more and more people by getting contracted projects. Cook also worked in military and medical simulations. He credits his network for every job in the industry he has ever had and also for where he is at now.“Just always try to do your damndest,” Cook said, when asked about how to get to where he is.

Cook continued to talk about the industry, and the gambling games they develop. Surely, making games that are for gambling can come with a lot of speed bumps. He said that they want to make sure they make something people will not only enjoy, but not feel like they are wasting money on.

"He emphasizes making the content engaging over making it addictive."

He also said that they do that by following neurological science i.e. by adding more lights, and stimuli to make it very engaging. They also want to make sure that they have natural exits for the game. Natural exits allow people to leave the game and still want to come back. So, they put stops into the game where people can leave and feel like they are still happy.

Cook then talked more about the tips for being a team leader. “Be the guy who makes everyone’s life easier,” Cook said. He also talked about being more organized, he added, “that is really important because when you are the person in charge, and everything you do is a hot mess, your project and team will reflect that.”

To conclude the event, the panel ended with students asking questions. These questions ranged from time management, to creating an effective network. Overall the panel was insightful and was able to appeal to people who weren’t even the target for the panel.
