Kamehamehaaaa! resounded off the walls of the Full Sail Live venue when Armada had the first day of their eSports tryouts on February 10th. Students were competing for the privilege to represent Full Sail University in collegiate level video game competitions. Dragon Ball Fighters Z (DBFZ) and Super Smash Bros were the featured games on the first day of Armada.
"The tournament styled double elimination contest had participants on their toes with a chance to come back for a better standing."
While Jameson Durall, Hall of Fame Inductee, Department Chairman of Game Design and Director of Design for Doghead Simulations hosted the two-day event, Alex Shaw aka. Cookie, and Eliyah Zachery aka. The Soulkicker provided the commentary for the DBFZ tournament. Cookie, the analytical commentator would explain gaming mechanics, while The Soulkicker was the hype man and the trivia guru on the Dragon Ball universe.
Hoyt Dingus, General Manager of Armada was also present and said, "I am overjoyed that Full Sail now has a team that we can rally behind" he continued, "I am beyond words” expressing the support from Full Sail faculty and students likewise. Christine Jobin, Staff Advisor for Armada and a passionate gamer said, "It was a lot of hard work, and I am excited to see it come together."

Ultimately, the top three contestants of this tournament, HeavyCura, Dino and KydDestar, made the final Full Sail team after winning the first place and runner up positions respectively.
The DBFZ tournament was followed by Smash Bros, and the transition was almost seamless, thanks to the Armada crew and the volunteers. Just like the DBFZ, Smash Bros also was a double elimination tournament with the top three participants making the Full Sail Smash Team. Rayden snagged first place, followed by Villian and Luminous completing Full Sail Smash team. The commentators Matthew Scarpa aka. Omni and Azier Larranaga aka. AliasAL added a great dynamic to the environment.
Full Sail Armada concluded successfully with two strong teams to face off their competitors in any upcoming collegiate season, but more than that the event brought together students sharing a common passion about gaming and eSports. The event channeled a great energy preluding Hall of Fame 9.
