Everyone knows Hall of Fame is right around the corner when Full Sail hosts its own Grammy viewing party! 2018’s Grammy is no different. For those looking for a magical evening that is arguably the closest thing to the actual Grammys one can get to before being there, look no further!
Full Sail’s viewing party starts with a long line that starts at the Full Sail Live building and wraps around to the Fish Bowl, and sometimes even makes it to the library. Having friends to talk to as one waits in line can really help pass the time. Sam Decker, student of Game Art, is one of the students who attended the event with some of his friends that boosted his experience. “It was exciting,” Decker said, “The hosts were awesome! They kept everyone entertained and included.”
“The hosts were awesome! They kept everyone entertained and included.”
However, things don’t slow down there! Once in, students had a chance to walk the red carpet complete with an interview mirroring the real event. The night raged on until the last award was given out. As the event came to a close, dozens of students walked away with some prizes ranging from drones to mandolins. Media Communications’ own Stacy Blake won a PS4 after tweeting the most tweets using the hashtag “FullSailGrammys”.

The fact that students from multiple degree programs can come together to enjoy a night of music, food, games, prizes, and of course watch the Grammy’s, is not something every college student can brag about.
One thing that adds to the magic of the night is the announcement of Full Sail grads who have contributed to the award-winning songs of the night. The Full Sail Grammy viewing party is not only a night for entertainment; this event gives a perspective and adds an image to the journey that the students are on. It makes the experience surreal for students because one day, they could be helping create the next “Record of the Year”, or be responsible for the next “Best New Artist”.
Overall the 2018 Grammy’s at Full Sail kicked off February on a high note, and was a great way to get pumped for Hall of Fame 9! Who were you rooting for this year? Let us know below!
