It’s that time of year and Hall of Fame is back! Before we look at what’s up and coming, let’s take a look at some of last year’s panels. One of those panels was about Collaboration and Networking with Diverse Teams, hosted by Culley Bunker, Aaron Ford, Troy DeVolld, and Tim Naylor. They talked about the importance of being able to work in a team not only for school but also for the entertainment industry. Each alum on the panel talked about why they found teamwork important.

One personal account about working on a team came from DeVolld, who talked about the most important aspect of working with a big team. DeVolld describes the importance of making sure everyone is appreciated in order to keep the moral and motivation at it’s best. DeVolld said, “When you start managing, look at whoever in your office has the smallest paycheck, it is typically the transcribers, the PAs, at the end of every show I do a lunch for them just to make sure that they are appreciated.” Being a person who not only gets the job done, but also makes others feel good while doing the job,is important in the entertainment industry.

Learning how to ensure you remain in good standing with the rest of the industry is important. Your brand is everything and if word gets out that you are not a good person to work with, you will not end up getting many jobs. It is crucial to be a great team player and maintain a good work ethic during projects.

While we look to the upcoming Hall of Fame 8, which brings many students to their first Hall of Fame, it is important not to forget that great panels are available to you.

Lessons can be learned from each and every one of them. For updates on new workshops and panel discussions during Hall of Fame 8, follow us on Twitter and Instagram @WeAreMCBS.
