On one of the last panels of this year’s Hall of Fame, four prominent figures in the Florida film scene came together to discuss the creative environment within the state, and how to take the most advantage of it when it comes to filming projects of your own. Led by Film Production MFA course director Jennie Jarvis, the panelists covered everything from filming permits to networking events, and encouraged Full Sail students to get involved in the blossoming film industry happening around them as soon as possible.
Orlando Film Commissioner Sheena Fowler, TV and film producer Priscilla Rojas, film producer Valeska Freire Marulanda, and Film Florida Executive Director John Lux all shared their personal journey through the film industry in Florida. They emphasized to students the importance of starting small with your independent productions, working with film commissioners within the state, and continuing to encourage the Florida film industry to grow by working on projects here after graduation.
At the conclusion of the panel, it was clear that passionate people are needed everywhere, from Orlando to Hollywood, in every film project, big or small, and it is up to you to take advantage of the amazing position you are in as a student in a growing artistic environment.
This panel was streamed live for those who could not make it on Thursday, and can be found on Youtube.
