Hall of Fame means so much to everyone here at Full Sail, but not everyone experiences it the same way. The experience differs between students, alumni, and Hall of Fame inductees. I caught up with some of the MCBS alumni during their homecoming gathering to see how it feels to be back at Full Sail, as well as what they have been up to since graduating.
Jay graduated quite recently in March of 2019, but didn’t want to leave Full Sail quite yet. Instead, he has been working here with the Career Development team, as well as being an associate HR co-director.
Although it hasn’t been long since he graduated, it is still a little weird to be back. There is a big difference from being a student to being a faculty member and graduate. All of that being said, he is still extremely happy to be back in this setting and be able to see everyone again.
Ivan graduated back in May of 2015, and he has been up to some big things since then. He started out working here at Full Sail with the Reception, Admission, and Outreach teams. After a year and a half, he realized he was destined for bigger and better things. He started working at Buzzfeed as a video producer and personality, and has been in love with it ever since.
For Ivan, coming back to Full Sail for Hall of Fame has been a great experience. He is thankful that he has been given an opportunity to share everything he has learned with current students. He loves showing how media communications is the perfect degree program to learn a little of everything. He even hosted a workshop this week on how to produce Buzzfeed videos.
Maria graduated in August of 2018, and her life has taken off at full speed after that. Just a few weeks after graduating, she moved to New York and began picking up jobs in entertainment. She went to many open mics and continued honing her skills. She then came to realize that she still had a lot to learn and is currently getting her Masters in Political Science and History at UCF.
“Surreal” is the word Maria used to describe being able to come back to Full Sail for Hall of Fame. She loves that we have such a special event for everyone to come together and really enjoys the atmosphere. She had so much fun catching up with everyone from the different classes and programs again.
Lele also graduated in August of 2018, and had some big realizations. She interned at Orlando City as a graphic designer her last semester at Full Sail, and that led to her getting hired at South Street and Company in January. As she worked there for the same client, she realized she wanted to work for her own clients. She then started working for the Robinson Room and Wellborn doing social media and content creation, as well as working for herself.
Although a lot has changed here at Full Sail and in Lele’s life, it is a nostalgic feeling to be back here. She is so happy to get a chance to see everyone again. This was the first time many of these alumni were able to all get together since graduation, and it was a big change to go from seeing each other almost every day to barely ever seeing each other.
